Increasing demand from our customers for centrifugal pumps operating with low flow rates whilst maintaining relatively high discharge heads has led to the development of the PumpXP ULF OH2.

Ultra Low Flow ULF Pumps

High speed solutions can be expensive and are considered by some users to be unreliable, whilst standard centrifugal pumps (API-OH2, ANSI or ISO) have to run back on their operating curve far away from their best efficiency point and design duties. This can lead to high vibration resulting in pump failure, specifically mechanical seals and bearings. Specifications generally recommend an allowable operating range of 70-110% BEP (Best Efficiency Point) whilst the flow rates being specified for ULF type pumps tend to fall well below 50% of BEP duties.

The aim of the ULF pump is to offer a pump that is reliable and meets the duty specified by the customer, whilst being cost efficient and able to meet specification demands imposed.

PumpXP offer a bespoke range of ULF pumps with the following operating parameters;

  • Flow Rates : 1 – 20 m3/hr
  • Heads : Up to 200m
  • Temperature : Up to 150DegC
  • Pressure : 50 barg

The impeller design is a derivative of the Barske type impeller with a high vane count and is fully axially balanced. The high inlet area provides acceptable NPSH performance without the need for an inducer, whilst high internal volume between vanes aid heat dissipation. Pump designed for heat dissipation to aid cooling and prevent hotspots.

The simple and modular construction reduces cost and delivery and allows for the use of exotic materials such as;

  • Solid stellite
  • Monel
  • Titanium
  • Easy access to coatings – 100% coverage possible

Pumps can be designed for the exact duty requirement by controlling the volute area, meaning that specification requirements are always met. Pump duties can be simply adjusted, allowing for future upgrades.

Pump is an ideal solution for boosting and make up services, which tend to operate intermittently and pump efficiency not the main driver for selection.
